It was The Who that famously hoped to die before they got old; a morbid philosophy in 1965 and one that the now aged rockers look less committed to with every year that passes…

…but what do the great philosophical traditions of the world have to tell us about the meaning of death, why we die, and how those left behind should respond to it.

As Pub Philosophy goes all macabre, only the dead would want to want to miss it!

The Plan

Your host will meet you at 6.00pm at the Crown Tavern where a room will be reserved for us upstairs. Although this is not a ‘dinner’ event, food is available at the pub and you’ll be free to order there if you wish.

Tell me more

Join your laughably under-qualified host as we ask such fundamental questions as…

  • Are all deaths are misfortunes or only some?
  • Is it possible to have a good death?
  • Can posthumous events harm us, and do the dead have rights?

No academic or philosophical background is necessary, only an appetite for enquiry. Everybody has an opinion and this is your chance to find yours! You will be encouraged to put forward your point of view without fear. Just turn up and enjoy!
