How long have you been in London?
19 months
What made you join Thinking Bob?
I actually joined Bob a couple of months before I moved to London. I knew I wanted to live here but wasn’t sure how I would settle in as I didn’t know anybody in the City. I wanted to find out more about Thinking Bob and if it would help me create some semblance of a social site. After a couple of chats with the Bob team and a bit of research on the site they helped finalise my decision and the rest is history so to speak.
Is there any reason you choose TB over any other social club or site?
Having tried a couple of different Meet Up groups I still find myself sticking with Bob. It really does feel like more of a family which is great especially when so many people in the group have moved away from home. The events always have a great crowd of friendly faces and I have met some amazing people who will truly be friends for life. Turning up for your first couple of events can be daunting especially if you don’t know anyone but I can honestly say everyone I have met at Bob has been so welcoming and friendly that you forget that initial fear in an instant. You’re encouraged to suggest socials (no pressure to host of course) and so if you see an event you want to go to you never have to be afraid about doing it alone.
How long have you been a member?
I joined a couple of months before I moved to London and went to my first social on my second day in the City.
What’s your favourite social?
I have been to so many amazing it would be difficult to choose just one. The city treasure hunts are always great fun, you get to explore the City, whilst having a laugh and you get the bonus of seeing hidden treasures that you normally just walk past without noticing. I’m a big fan of the slightly quirkier socials – things that get you out of your comfort zone and try something new such as The Monster (a 30 foot long inflatable assault course), the museum nights are always fun (culture and cocktails, what’s not to love?!?) and I’m a big music fan so love the music quizzes and live music socials too.
What’s the best thing about your Thinking Bob journey so far?
It’s the people that make Thinking Bob what it is there is a real family vibe and the best thing for me is some of the amazing friends that I have made in the last 19 months. Thinking Bob made me feel at home in the City and my experience here wouldn’t have been the same without them!
What would you say to anyone thinking of joining?
Don’t be afraid, sign up for the free trial and come along and meet the Bob family. I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed. There are so many different socials and so many different personalities you will feel at home in no time. London can be a super lonely city if you don’t have a strong crew around you.
